High-ProteinMeal-Prep

A healthy lunch is the one you'll actually eat at your desk: built ahead, holds for days, and doesn't leave you reaching for a 3pm snack. This is how to build one, plus the chef-tested lunches on this site, bowls, dense salads, wraps, and meal-prep that travels. Start with the salmon rice bowl meal prep, the dense bean salad, the chicken caesar wrap, or the mediterranean bowl. Part of the meal-types guide.

The FAQ

The questions cooks bring us.

What's a healthy lunch that won't leave me hungry?
One with 25-35g of protein, fiber from vegetables or legumes, and some fat. The mid-afternoon crash is almost always a lunch that was too small or nearly all carbohydrate. The bowls, dense salads, and wraps in this collection are all built to that shape so you're steady through the afternoon instead of raiding the snack drawer at three.
What are good make-ahead lunches for work?
Bowls and dense salads travel best. The salmon rice bowl meal prep is designed as five identical lunches; the dense bean salad and mediterranean couscous salad actually improve by day two. Keep dressings on the side for anything leafy, and pack soups like the miso salmon soup in a thermos. Most lunches here hold three to five days.
How do I make a salad filling enough to be lunch?
Give it a real protein anchor and structure. A bed of greens with nothing on it isn't lunch. The dense bean salad hits 21g protein and 18g fiber from beans alone; the keto cobb stacks chicken, egg, and bacon. Add a grain or legume base, 25g+ of protein, and a dressing with fat, and a salad becomes a meal that holds you.
Can I meal-prep lunch for the whole week?
Yes, with the right formats. Grain-and-protein bowls, dense salads, and soups all hold three to five days; leafy salads do best dressed at the last minute. Cook the protein once on Sunday, portion into containers, and vary the sauce so day four doesn't taste like day one. The salmon rice bowl meal prep is built exactly this way.
