Was dieses Rezept für Sie leistet.
A month of compliant cooking laid out as four weeks rather than thirty separate decisions. The one big shop, the four sauces that carry the whole month, the dinner rotation, the two points where people quit, the compliance traps hiding in bacon and broth, and the reintroduction schedule that is the actual purpose of the thirty days.

Plan four weeks, not thirty days
Thirty individual dinner decisions is what makes month-long programs collapse. Four weeks of a five-dinner rotation with two flexible nights is fourteen decisions total, and you make them once. Week one and week three share a rotation, week two and week four share another, so you cook ten distinct dinners across the month and every one of them gets better the second time.
The one big shop, and the four sauces
Compliant food is not the problem, compliant flavour is. Make four sauces on day zero and the month tastes like cooking rather than compliance: a proper mayonnaise blended with light olive oil, a ranch built on that mayonnaise with dill and chives, a chimichurri of parsley, garlic, oregano, vinegar and oil, and a coconut-milk curry base. They keep four to seven days for the mayonnaise-based two and about ten days for the others, so you remake them roughly weekly.
Days one to four, the part nobody warns you about properly
Most people feel flat and slightly headachey somewhere in the first four days, and it is usually less sugar withdrawal than a straightforward drop in carbohydrate and in sodium once the packaged food goes. Salt your food properly, drink more water than usual, and eat starchy vegetables, sweet potato, squash, potato, which are compliant and which the program does not ask you to ration. This is not a reason to eat less.
The dinner rotation, five plates that repeat
A sheet-pan chicken thigh traybake with two vegetables. A one-pot chili built on beef, tomato and sweet potato, no beans. Meatballs in tomato sauce over spaghetti squash or roasted courgette. A coconut curry with chicken and a mountain of vegetables. And a whole roast chicken on Sunday whose carcass becomes broth and whose meat becomes two lunches. All five reheat well, all five scale, and none needs a specialty ingredient.
Breakfast stops being breakfast food, and that is the point
No cereal, no toast, no yogurt, no protein bar, which leaves a lot of people staring at the fridge on day two. The fix is to eat dinner food in the morning. Last night's chicken thigh with roasted vegetables and an egg on top. A hash of sweet potato, onion and ground pork. Eggs, avocado and a pile of greens cooked in ghee. Batch a tray of egg cups on Sunday for the mornings when even that is too much.
Where the plan quietly breaks: labels
Sugar hides in almost all bacon and sausage, in most chicken broth, in balsamic vinegar blends, in nearly every cured meat, and in the tinned tomatoes that list dextrose. Sulphites and carrageenan are common in coconut milk. Read the ingredients on anything that arrives in packaging, buy compliant bacon once and freeze it in portions, and use plain tinned tomatoes plus your own seasoning rather than a jarred sauce.
Days ten to twelve, the wall, and how to walk through it
The second dip is boredom rather than chemistry, and it lands almost exactly when the first rotation stops feeling new. This is what week two's different rotation is for. Change the sauce rather than the ingredient list, swap chimichurri for the curry base on the same chicken and vegetables, and it reads as a new dinner. Cooking something with a bit of ambition on one weekend day also helps more than it should.
Eating out for thirty days without a scene
Order grilled protein and vegetables, ask for it cooked in olive oil or plain butter substitute, skip the sauce, and bring your own dressing if you care about the salad. Steakhouses, Mexican without the tortilla or cheese, and any place with a grill are easy. Sushi, Thai and anything battered or glazed are not. Two restaurant meals a week is entirely doable, and pretending otherwise is how people cancel plans and then cancel the program.
Reintroduction is the experiment, the thirty days are just the baseline
Day thirty-one is not the finish line, it is when the data starts. Reintroduce one group at a time with two or three compliant days between each: legumes, then non-gluten grains, then dairy, then gluten. Eat the group two or three times in one day, then go back to compliant food and watch for two days. Digestion, sleep, skin, joints, energy. The whole point of the month is to give you a clean enough baseline that these signals are readable.

Häufige Fragen
- What does a typical Whole30 day look like?
- Breakfast is eggs with a starchy vegetable and greens, or leftover dinner protein with an egg on top. Lunch is a large salad or bowl built on last night's protein with one of the four sauces. Dinner is a traybake, a one-pot, or a curry, with two vegetables and a real portion of protein. Three meals, no snacking as the default, and no calorie counting, which the program explicitly asks you not to do.
- Can I eat fruit on Whole30?
- Yes, fruit is compliant and unrestricted in quantity, though the program asks you not to use it to build dessert-shaped food. Whole fruit with a meal or after one is fine. Dates blended into a compliant brownie is exactly the pancake-rule situation the program is trying to stop, since the food is technically compliant while the behaviour it feeds is the thing you were meant to interrupt.
- Is Whole30 a low-carb diet?
- No, and treating it as one is the single most common way people end up exhausted by day five. Potatoes, sweet potatoes, plantains, squash, beets and all fruit are compliant, and the official program is explicit that starchy vegetables belong on the plate. What comes out is grains, legumes, added sugar, dairy and alcohol, not carbohydrate as a category.
- How much does a Whole30 month cost?
- Expect it to run above your normal grocery spend, because meat, fish, eggs and produce replace the cheap calories that come from grains, dairy and packaged food. Cheaper cuts, whole chickens, ground meat, frozen vegetables, tinned fish and eggs keep it reasonable. Cooking every meal at home for a month also removes the takeaway and restaurant line from the budget, and for most households that roughly cancels out.
- What happens on day 31?
- You start the reintroduction schedule, which is the part with the actual value. Add one food group back, eat it a few times in a single day, then return to compliant eating for two or three days and pay attention. Skipping reintroduction and simply resuming your old diet turns thirty disciplined days into a temporary restriction with no information at the end of it.
